The conflict between these two strategies has significant ramifications for patients, healthcare professionals, and the larger healthcare system. Conventional medicine has long been the primary form of healthcare, offering tried-and-true therapies and interventions that can save lives. It does this through conducting thorough research and adhering to established protocols. However, alternative medicine opposes the dominant paradigm by providing individualized and frequently unorthodox approaches to wellness. It does this by drawing heavily from holistic philosophies and centuries-old traditions. This essay explores the complexities of this ongoing dispute, pointing out the advantages, disadvantages...

Research Proposal

Lisangel Tineo English 21003 6 November 2023 Research proposal Alternative Medicine vs Conventional Medicine: What Works and What Doesn't?      As children, we have all experienced the homemade medicine our parents would give us whenever we were sick, whether that is lemon/salt water for a sore throat, chicken soup for a cold, or a wet towel on our foreheads for a fever. Most of the time these methods would prove to be successful in making us feel better but through my research, I would like to explore the extent of the effectiveness of such methods in comparison to conventional medicines like over-the-counter or prescribed medications. I'd also like to explore other forms of medicine that would fit into the genre of alternative medicine. Alternative medicine encompasses a wide range of treatments, practices, and therapies that are not part of mainstream or conventional medicine. It is based on the belief that the body has the ability to heal itself and that it can ...
